Tibetan Culture Day in New Orleans

This Sunday, March 10th, from 12 pm to 3 pm at 1780 Prytania St. there will be activities relating to Tibetan culture and tradition.

There are many aspects of Tibetan culture that can resonate deeply here in New Orleans. Tibetans offer messages of compassion, nonviolence, and hope, which all rest on faith in community and in ourselves.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be prayer flag and dharma wheel making, delicious momo (Tibetan dumpling) sampling, and social work students who visited Dharamsala, India, sharing their experience of time spent with Tibetan learning partners. And for a little flavor of both New Orleans and Tibet, a Tibetan-themed Second Line will march with Boombador’s drum line.

There will be tables set up with information on Tibet and a table with free curry and rice for all!

The event is organized by Tibet on Fire, an informal organization of friends that seeks to spread awareness about Tibet and its people.
