Nola Trystereo & Apex Youth Center & Cat’s Birthday Show

TRYSTEREO:

APEX YOUTH CENTER:

September 28th there was a show at the Dragon’s Den here in New Orleans to help Cat celebrate her birthday & life in general. There were 9 bands that played and it was a fun night. There was $5 admission at the door, originally because the Disregardables were supposed to play. The Disregaradables are from Atlanta and therefore could have used some money for gasoline. They could not make the show, but it was still decided to collect money at the door. At the end of the night, half of the money went to Cat to help her pay for her life expenses and her young one & the rest of the money was donated to rad organizations around New Orleans.

Community Records did not organize the show per-say there were a lot of other awesome people / bands involved. Nina at the Dragon’s Den went through tremendous effort to make all of this happen & Brian Pretus did a ton to organize the bands and the evening. The bands that performed were: Joystick, The Rooks, Dead Legends, I’m Fine, Vapo-Rats, Bujie and the Highrise, The Switchers, MC Duck, and See You In Mexico.

Those two organizations we donated to are:

NOLA TRYSTEREO SYRINGE DISTRIBUTION

APEX YOUTH CENTER

There was $250 donated to each group.

APEX YOUTH CENTER: helps out youth and families that need community support. That comes in the form of education, after school care, a place to play & hang out, and even meals.

APEX Community Advancement, Inc. was formed for the expressed purpose of supporting, innovating and creating programs and services focusing on the needs of young people from age 5 through 25 in our communities.  Our first goal and major project was to create a flagship youth/teen center and arts venue.

The center services children, primarily ages 12 to 18, during the day, with special activities and programs in the evening targeted to teens and young adults between 15 and 25.  Mentorship training for older teens and young adults is offered side by side with our afternoon programming.

Apex youth center is located at: 4360 Washington Ave.
New Orleans, LA  70125

you can visit their web-site HERE.
