Endless Gaycation – Summer Is Over When We Say It’s Over!
New Orleans, Thursday October 11th-Sunday October 14th
Endless Gaycation (EG) is a four day queer and trans art, music and education festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. Collectively started, EG aims to provide a safe space for all queer and trans/gender non-conforming identities to learn, share, create beauty, create debauchery, dance, fuck, and enjoy ourselves in good company. Through workshops/skill shares, community meals, live music, performance art, dance parties and more we are hoping to attract queers and allies from New Orleans, the Deep South and all over the country to participate in EG.
Each day of EG from 10am-5pm, Diety Arts (830 N. Rampart St) will be hosting us as our headquarters. At headquarters EG organizers and volunteers will be available to answer questions, distributing participant zines with information about EG including schedule of events, sites to see, etc. Headquarters will also host a variety of workshops as well as LoveQuest Inc. an offline blind dating service available each day from 11am-3pm . Each day hosts a variety of free daytime activities open to all, including yoga each morning, workshops, skill shares, film screenings, and community discussions on queer and trans topics. All daytime events are listed on the schedule with times and locations.
EG is ENDLESS but “officially” kicking off Thursday October 11th with a nautical themed dance party, “The Cruise” at 1135 Decatur, featuring local DJs and a stiletto race. Friday night is packed with events ranging from queer punk show featuring Screaming Females, Atomic Tan Lines, Salt Flats, and Scissor Grind 9pm at the Bakery (1325 St Bernard Ave) to Spectacular! Spectacular! A queer cabaret for all! 10pm at John Paul’s (940 Elysian Fields) followed by an after party Peacock! at the Voodoo Lounge (718 n. Rampart St.), 11pm- till late. Saturday afternoon, Chez Gay Beauty Salon will be primping and crimping participants and attendees from 3-8pm at Kajuns Pub (2256 St Claude Ave) for the main event -the Queens Milliner’s Ball – A Queerspiracy Pagaent, 8pm at the All-Ways Lounge (2240 St Claude Ave), followed by the after party – Templum Second Saturdays 11pm- till late @ Saturn Bar (3607 St Claude ave). Sunday culminates with a The Parade To No End at noon (start location TBA), Queer Punk Rock Takeover at the Big Top (1638 Clio St.) 3pm with Trashy and Feral Future. The evening will include a Queer Writers Showcase at the Mudlark Public Theater (1200 Port St.) and Endless Gaycation: Unplugged – acoustic sets by Nuclear Thought, Liz Bien, Long Vera, and Romantic Animal 8pm at the Country Club (634 Louisa St). The weekend will conclude with a midnight screening (movie TBA) at the Aquarium Gallery (634 Montegut St.)
