The Flaming Tsunamis – Externalities (Update)

Hey all, so this message is long overdue but unfortunately we haven’t been able to give an official update that would be very substantial as many things have been up in the air for a long time now. So, over a year ago people pre-ordered the new album and we had expected the album to be done well before now though were never totally sure about a specific release date. Well here we are and you still don’t have a record in your hands. A few explanations for this, first as everyone knows, the death of Mitch put everything on hold for a good long while as we regrouped and tried to become stable again and get back on track. Second, in our preparations for the benefit show for Mitch we decided to include some extra musicians in the live show, mostly consisting of our buddies in All The Friends, we added some extra instrumentation, new layers and entirely new parts for the live show and we liked them so much we felt they should be included on the album, so a lot of the time that was set aside for final mixing ended up being spent recording these new additions. The downside is that it has prolonged the process greatly, the upside is that the album sounds better than ever and there will be even more surprises in store for your first listen through. And finally, the biggest road block to completion is personnel issues. We have been recording at Silver Bullet Studios with Greg Thomas, which has been an incredibly exhausting and rewarding experience. Greg has become an integral part of the album and we wouldn’t feel comfortable putting the final touches and mixes without him. Unfortunately he is a very very busy dude, in addition to the studio, he writes, records and tours near full time with two other bands. In fact in the last year he has only been home for a combined total of 5 weeks. During that time he has had an almost fully booked studio that has made it hard for us to get significant work done. So there is an explanation for why we can’t just get this thing out already! Now what is more important and what you’re all wondering is WHEN will you get this record? We still don’t have an exact release date, Greg is gone on another month and a half long tour but after that we will be in the studio getting the final touches in order and sending it off to mastering. The record is essentially done aside from a few tweaks and mix issues, and we want you all to hear it as soon as it is done, trust us. We appreciate everyone’s patience in the matter and thank you for the support we’ve received during those whole process. We promise we didn’t steal your money and eventually you will have a record in your hands and a live performance in front of your eyes.
