A Billion Ernies – Artist Feature – Block Party 2012
Community Records Block Party – Sat. April 21st – @ The Big Top
For about 3 years, A Billion Ernies quit their lives and toured the country what seemed
like nonstop. Nuff said – don’t miss them at Block Party. In case that didn’t get you….
ABE has been described a few times by Greg Rodrigue as “Politically
Minded Thrashy Ska”. It might depend slightly at what juncture you are listening to
them between their 2002 release Please Do Not Reveal The Ending and their 2009
release (on Community Records) Dumpster Generation. In the realm of Independent ska
bands though (and they do LOVE when you call them ska), you’d be hard-pressed to
find one that has toured as frequently and to as many smiling faces as ABE has.
They are seriously some of the best dudes. Just take a visit to their facebook page and
find messages from people all over the United States demanding that ABE return to
where they used to tour so frequently. Oh yea, I forgot that part… the 7 members of this
band live in 6 different states. It’s probably in your best interest to catch their only show
of this year. In all seriousness, ABE ranks in my top 3 of bands not to miss this year. And
my opinion is like really important. Trust me.
