winded

Community Records is pleased to offer Schwartz Goes to Heaven, the first full length release by Tallahassee’s winded! Recorded by David Settle of Ex-Breathers, Schwartz Goes to Heaven showcases winded taking a charmingly melancholic indie rock mindset at home beyond the stylistic peership with contemporaries such as Japanese Breakfast, Palehound, and Jay Som but places this sound in a larger stylistic continuity from the charmingly dense guitar pop sounds of the ’60s, 4AD’s historic icons of post-punk dreaminess and gloom, and the deluge of alternative rock and pop sounds afterward such as shoegaze, grunge, and post-hardcore that came to constitute alternative rock on both side of the Atlantic. Confessional lyrics and instrumental hooks are amplified with everything else enough to obliterate the complacent familiarity one so often finds in dreamy, hazy rock. Even if heaven is just a place between the doldrums of mortality and the psychedelic oblivions most certainly beyond, winded now offer us a sonorous, enveloping heaven where we can feel as ethereal or as emotional as the day brings. This will perhaps be especially enjoyable for fans of peers and benchmarks such as Slint, Breeders, Alvvays, and Palm!

“Schwartz Goes to Heaven” is out Friday, June 22nd on Community Records via cassette and digital.
