SUPAFLIES – RAMBARDED

About:

release date: 11.25.1997 – Fueled By Ramen

Well I have to say, when this album was released, and when this band was very active. I wasn’t really into ska and punk or underground music yet. I was still in my Reel Big Fish, Green Day, Skateboarding phase of life (5th to 7th grade).

The Supaflies had a lasting effect on the punk and ska fans of New Orleans and beyond. This album represents to many of my friends and I one of the staples of what new orleans had to offer the third wave ska world circa 1997. They toured and shared the stage with such acts as MU330, Less Than Jake, The Impossibles, The Hippos, and many others. This album holds a special place in my heart as a representation of a group of people from our hometown, none the less my neighborhood of the west bank that did something, and none the less still do something. Members of the group went on to form Community and a group called Black Belt the latter of which is still currently active. Check out “Rambared” out for some wholesome third wave ska punk.
