MURPHY’S KIDS – THE ANTHEMIC PANDEMIC

About:

CR release #018
Released on Nov. 4 2011

Murphy’s Kids follows up their last release, Departures, with this hard hitting, super-hot-jamz testament to living your life to the fullest. The Anthemic Pandemic was written and recorded by the band at the Murphy’s Kids compound in Richmond, VA. They worked on this record day and night and the details really shine through in the recording. In typical Murphy’s Kids fashion, the record is drenched in reggae and funk colors with a splash or two of punk rock near the middle of the record. Tracks like “Aisha” and “On Leaving” are an obvious tip of the hat to such greats as The Police and The Clash while “Grind” and “The Best Revenge” hit you with the more progressive punk rock style Murphy’s Kids does so well. This record really has it all: skafunkrastapunk, if you will. Killer horn and guitar solos, solid, almost-gospel drumming, lots of weird effects, and catchy, relevant lyrics.
